JD Turley


     J.D. Turley came to Madison Middle School at the start of the 2012-2013 school year to teach Social Studies. He was born and raised in Boone County and a 2000 graduate of Sherman High School.  After high school he attended Alderson-Broaddus College where he obtained a computer science degree in 2004.  He returned to the Charleston area and worked several different jobs before deciding to become a teacher.  He went back to school and received a histroy degree from WVSU.  He began substitute teaching in the 2008-2009 school year while working on a masters from Marshall University.  He graduated from Marshall in 2011. Mr. Turley has been teaching as a substitute teacher since 2008 serving in long-term positions in both Boone and Kanaha counties. 

     Mr. Turley enjoys a wide array of hobbies and likes to try new things.  Of particular interest is anything outdoors and includes rock climbing, hunting, hiking, etc...  As of 2012 has been married  to his beautiful wife Sabrina for 7 years and they have an 11 month old daughter named Audrey.  They also have a dog named Muddy who has been in the family for 4 years.  Mr. Turley has a goal of trying to reach the highest point in all 50 states.  He started this as a hobby in the summer of 2011 and so far has reached the highest point in five states.
