Ms. Amy Brown

Mrs. Amy M. Brown earned her AA from Southern WV Community College in 1988 and her BA in Secondary ELA Education from WV State University in 1992.  Because permanent teaching positions were scarce at that time, Amy took a hiatus from the classroom and worked as a Federal employee for six years as a Title XVI specialist and programs trainer with the Social Security Administration.  She then worked as the Managing Director for the Boone County Community Foundation for almost ten years.  Amy returned to education and joined the Madison Middle School team and the Boone County Schools Reading Cadre in 2012, then earned the School Library Media Specialization from Marshall Graduate College in 2014.  She currently works as the school’s SLMS in the Redhawks Library.  Amy is also the MMS Chapter Advisor for the National Junior Honor Society and the MMS Site Coordinator for WV GEAR UP.

Amy is an avid reader, staying abreast of the current titles and trends in adolescent literature.  She reads what the students read and says her favorite part of the job is connecting students with books that change their lives.  “I have regular student visitors in the library and we’ll read the same books, then discuss them in great detail.  I love that about my job!”

Amy is active in the community, volunteering as an officer for the Boone County 4-H Leaders’ Association and as a member of the Skyhawk Band Boosters.  Her favorite pastimes are reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
